Using WhatsApp with your website
· Stephen O. Olawumi
A lot of businesses in Nigeria close the sale on WhatsApp. That does not make the website optional. It changes the website’s job.
The site qualifies the enquiry
People who message you from a clear page already know the service, the city, and roughly what to expect. People who message from a blank profile ask the same five questions every time. The page can answer those once.
Make the handoff obvious
A WhatsApp button should say what happens next. “Message us about a website” is better than a floating icon with no context. The same applies to a phone number.
Do not hide the business behind the chat
Some visitors, especially outside your usual circle, will not message a number they cannot place. A short about section, a real location if you publish one, and examples of the work give them a reason to write.
Campaigns need a landing place
An advert that drops people into a chat with no page is hard to improve. An advert that drops them onto a page, then into WhatsApp, can be read, changed, and measured. That is how the digital marketing work at Olastep Networks is usually set up: creative, audience, and a place for the enquiry to land.
